CH24 — Wishbone Chair
The iconic CH24 Wishbone Chair by Hans J. Wegner stands out in modern design. Wegner uniquely combined the back and armrest into one piece, featuring a Y-shaped back for stability and comfort. Crafted through over 100 hand-operated steps, the chair includes a hand-woven seat that takes about an hour to create using 120 meters of durable paper cord. The Wishbone Chair is not only strong and long-lasting but also offers comfort and an elegant aesthetic. It has become a symbol of modern Danish design, celebrated as the ideal chair.
CH07 — Shell Chair
When Hans J. Wegner introduced the CH07 Shell Chair in 1963, its avant-garde design received mixed reviews, leading to limited production. However, its reintroduction by Carl Hansen & Søn in 1998 garnered immediate admiration from a new generation. The chair’s lightness comes from its wing-like seat and curved backrest, supported by three arched legs. Made from upholstered form-pressed veneer, it offers generous comfort, while the laminated legs, crafted from layers of veneer, ensure stability. The Shell Chair embodies Wegner’s philosophy that a chair should be beautiful from all angles and always comfortable.
CH445 — Wing Chair
Hans J. Wegner’s CH445 Wing Chair is a fully upholstered easy chair on a stainless steel frame, exemplifying his vision for a high-backed armchair. Its solid beech frame provides strength and durability, while the carefully designed upholstery supports the back, shoulders, neck, and head in various positions. The slender stainless steel legs tilt slightly forward and prevent tipping, with small steel elements linking the upper chair to the frame and shoes on each leg to prevent sliding. Originally designed in 1960, the chair saw limited production until its relaunch by Carl Hansen & Søn in 2006. The CH445 is also available with the matching CH446 footstool for added comfort.
