The Anna G. is the perfect designer corkscrew to gift to wine lovers or to bring laughter and joy at a dinner with close friends, while being an interesting and captivating item. Since 1994, it is one of the most recognised products within the Alessi Encyclopaedia.

“I remembered when as a child my grandmother would open the wine bottle at the table, it had always seemed like a beautiful performance, a kind of ritual ballet: the head turning, the arms rising and falling […] I decided then to create an anthropomorphic object. I drew a ballerina.” This is how Alessandro Mendini recounts the birth of the Anna G corkscrew. It was Alberto Alessi who noticed, while observing the design, the resemblance to a designer friend of Mendini’s: “It is evident that subliminally I had portrayed Anna,” the author acknowledged, “she had been the inspiration.”

Since the founding of the brand, in 1921, most products have been made by cold metalworking, a tradition that has been preserved to this day by Italian artisans. The mission of the Alessi brand has always been and will be to translate its search for the most avant-garde design into mass production. Their products are the result of a constant reconciliation between art and industry, between the greatness of creative potential and the desires of the market. Alessi likes to present itself as a “dream factory” that uses their products to materialize people’s dreams and feed them with art and poetics.
